Can't find an engine number on my s3 diesel, its not at the front by the water pump as it should be. The log book says 2711560F which should be s2a diesel, but its got the alloy timing case driving the injector pump at the front and the brake vacuum pump for the servo in the block. Looks more like a 2.5 diesel to me, any ideas?

OK, here's the piccies. Waddya reckon, 2.25 or 2.5?

well - as a guess - its a doozil - coz yu seem to have injectors - and i was talkin to Clivees the other day and he sed the 2a has an oil filler on the side, like wot yours has - so I reckon its a 2A doozil. On my 2.5 n/a the air inlet is at the front of the inlet manifold and there is no oil filler on the side.

I think it's a 2.5 because the 2.25 had a rotary injection pump fitted where the 2.5 has its vacuum pump.

Also, yours looks like it has a timing belt, and that means 2.5 for sure.

The 2.25 used a chain and sprockets.

how many 2.5's are there?
it deffo aint the same as my 2.5na doozil. I reckon its that filler on the side that is the key.

I reckon its a really early TD5??;)

Looks like a 2.25 to me, could it have had extra new bits bolted on??
