Hi guys just bought a 2.5na defender 90 c reg pick up for 1k needs an outrigger and footwells but comes with parts, I'm thinking of making it into a king cab over summer and also resprayint it, iv bought a 200 disco so it will have 200 transfer box axles and engine, I'm just thinking it would be nice to make some cash on it. What's the best bet, should I stick 200 in it ? Should I king cab it ? Should I modify it or just keep it standard ? Just wondering what you guys think thanks a lot

For me it will sell 10times better with a 200 in it. So that's a no brainer in my mind.

Don't king cab it. I'd have thought it'll sell better as a standard pick up and may put people of if it isn't easy to change back.
If anything I'd convert to a van/county as they seem to do more money than pick ups.

Again as for any mods. I'd try to keep them minimal. Bare in mind your mods may not be to the taste of everyone else. Better to keep it standard(ish) and let the new owner mod it to their taste.

To many variables to say without seeing it.
How solid is the chassis
Bulkhead
Engine/box
Axles all good
Body, Is it dented to buggery
Only you know the quality of your work and the standard you're going to do it to.

But I did a bit of a rolling resto on my brothers 90 (below) and when he sold it he got £4100 if I remember right. But the spec was pretty good.
But it was a genuine 200tdi defender engine which as you'll know are stupid money.
Chassis had only ever had one patch rest was solid as was the bulkhead. .
Most of the panels were changed for very good second hand ones. Mainly td5/tdci

That's what I'd like to get this one looking like but with my 1k buying cost I don't think 3k would get it looking like that !!! Not even got the thing home yet so will have to wait and see

I do every thing myself and it costs no where near that amount.
To be honest panels are the most expensive thing to buy.

.. and I'd be interested in the truck cab if you do sell it to make my Van into a pick-up for summers!

Hmm not sure yet, if I build it for my self then I will king cab it, but if I build it to sell I'll just make it a county and paint it

Major trauma is looking for a Diesel engine for his series build the 2.5 n/a
Out of yours would drop straight in :)
