Good morning to all! What is draining my battery? If I use my Discovery td5 every day, it seems to be okay but two weeks ago after not needing it for a few days, the battery went dead! I charged it up for no longer than 20 minutes , tried it again, and found I had full power again. I then left it for four days and it started with no problem.I took out my radio, but that didn't help! The mechanic told me he'd checked all the wireing and found no problem there! Any ideas out ther? I feel I just can't trust it any more. How is it that so little charging can get enough power back into the battery?

Not sure why you posted tis in website suggestions? Disco section might be better.:)

D2 do draw a bit of power with everything switched off, I guess it is just keeping the ECUs and so on powered up. I disconnect the battery if I am going away and leaving it sitting for a few weeks.
They are hard on batteries, and not tolerant of tired old ones. My guess is a new battery might deal with your issue.

It was happening to my car too and I found out that it was the pump for the air suspension constantly on even though the car was locked. After saying that, it will probably be something totally different with your car; like the other guys said, a new battery may be required.

Thanks for the suggestions regarding battery being drained.I omitted to say the battery is a few months old. It's the correct one for my wagon i.e 110Ah! I disconnected everything that could disconnected, and including the battery and starting motor.I then sprayed a contact spray onto most cables, then reinserted them. This was almost two weeks ago, and since then I had no further problems! I still don't trust it, and am very relieved each time it starts! I'm now looking for a replacement radio/CD player. The original is broken and only had a cassette player.Living in Germany I would love to have a radio that picked up the BEEB but I now understand DAB system offers only a land based signal.I'm trying to find out what radio will fit the original 2 plugas at the back!
