My guess is butter.
Bought a fancy looking Chinese made temp gauge with matching sender. Sender didnt fit fully into the housing so swapped out for Britpart sender and gauge. Gauge went in fine. Removed Chinese sender and before much coolant could get out I got the Britpart sender in. Got it finger tight then started nipping up with ratchet. Tightened lightly then all of a sudden I got that horrid feeling in my stomach as it started to feel like it was loosening! Pulled the ratchet off and the top of the sender came off with it! Leaving the majority of the threads and sender in the housing. Managed to get it out easily with a screw driver. I was ready to catch the fluid coming out with the Chinese sender but only a small amount came out before the flow stopped. Normal?
Are the senders pretty delicate? There was hardly any tension on the sender before it crumbled. I've ordered two just in case I destroy another. Can I use locktite on the threads?
