evening,

my poor d1 has finally bitten the dust, courtesy of the tin worm, so im looking around for a replacement. found a '99 d2, with a TD5, only problem is its 2.5k and done 240,000 miles.
massively overpriced i know, but my main worry is that the engine is crapped out at nearly a quarter million
what do you guys think? how many miles would you expect from a TD5?
im probably going to see it this week, so i'll have a poke around

i would be more worried about the state of the chassis rear end than the mileage

+1 ,the oily bits are easily(if not cheaply) fixed,body and chassis condition more important and check that everything works,especially all the warning lights at start up.

keep looking, they are out there! price will go up from now on as winter approaches, not as fast as gas and electric though!!!lol

Agree with above, you could do a lot better than that mileage for 2.5k, theres plenty for sale. The chassis, especially rear, ace system pipes and power steering system leaks are easy to spot as an early indication of how well its been looked after.
