The time has come when I need to go down to 1 car so my Freelander has to go but I've no idea what to ask and I'm hoping for a bit of advice:-

Freelander 1 W reg.
Diesel
Front wheel drive.
Just had major service
Will go with full MOT
Tow ball and full electrics
Starts and runs well
Condition probably good for age
I had the engine replaced with a lower mileage one but sadly I can't find the documents.
Masses of history.
No ripped seats
I has the original radio but I’ve never bothered to get a code for it, I don’t like to listen when I'm driving.
Mileage about 150k

If it makes any difference to the price I'm in the North West between Liverpool and Manchester.

I've seen prices ranging for a few pounds to well over the thousand.

Any Ideas?

Thanks All. aamcle

Morning

I sold my V reg with a genuine 48k on it last year and got £800! It was like new with full SH, only my Dad and myself as owners so don't set your hopes too high!!!

It's a sad fact that the pre-facelift Freelander's aren't worth a huge amount any more.
The biggest thing contributing to the price achieved is location in the country and season you are selling it in. They are worth more in the southwest. They are also worth more in late autumn or early winter. ;)

I think the lack of VCU and props may make a huge difference though. (he says it is front wheel drive) - so would put a vast majority off and bottom out the value to next ot nothing me thinks.

It would likely be worth more in NZ, providing the shipping isn't excessive.
Absolutely :)

...and funnily enough 2 have come up for sale in the last couple of days...

'99 XEDI in decent nick but with 274K kms - $3,500 (good price here) - that's Pre Brexit £1.50, Post Brexit £2,000.
'99 XEDI AIWI with 'hole in engine block' to be towed away 263K kms - $2,000 - that's Pre Brexit £1.00, Post Brexit £1,100.

Shipping will make it unecconomic - and the border gestapo will probably incinerate it - needs to be spotlessly clean.

Other end of the range...
'06 TD4 basic trim 189K kms - $14,000 - that's £7,700
'06 V6 HSE with 78K kms - $18,850 - that's £10,400

The TD4 should sell for under $10K though - and the V6 will probably be scrapped before its sold!

Hi GG, interesting, those are more or less the prices you would pay over here. a good l series with 200k kms would set you back 3000 euros with a knackered ird and prop removed. A good L series with a vcu and no apparent transmission issues would set you back around 4000 euros but would be hard to find - better to buy one with prop removed and plan for a new prop, ird and probably diff.. People here also seem to be incredibly lazy with cooling systems - after the car is over 10 years old they never seem to do much or any service work at all - possibly change the oil. The amount i've seen with cooling systems running no antifreeze - hence no corrosion inhibitors is crazy. Mine ended up with all core plugs removed and block thoroughly flushed, new radiator, complete new steel pipe set (the bunch that go over the gearbox (they are bloody expensive too ! )
Not many freelanders here after the L series though - TD4s are totally frowned upon here as being incredibly unreliable (probably down to owner abuse and neglect) I have never heard of a V6 here at all (over 80% of vehicles here are diesel) There are many many thousands of L series though.
