The last few days have noticed a wet puddle on floor under car. So took it for a run to warm her up parked up and kept checking for the drips and nothing so went to bed got up and there it is big as can be. its not pink so not coolant its not green so not a/c its not black so not oil.But has no distinctive smell or taste. But it leaves a stain on the road checked clutch and break fluid they are fine. But now fule needle keeps going up and down and so does the refuel range on dash? Are they connected or two different faults ?I can check for up to two hours and no puddle but in the morning big as can be again? could it be something heating up and expanding to stop the leak then when cold contracts to start the leak?

Aircon evaporation. Where do you live? Over here we get that a lot if its hot and you use the aircon.

about two weeks ago the air con compressor siezed up ripped fanbelt apart and wrecked the water pump so been bypassed

This will sound stupid maybe but ............

I spent weeks looking for the cause of an on/off puddle under the car, stuck my finger in it, smelled it, tasted it ...... was driving me nuts.

........... and then  I found the spare wheel well full of water, and it was leaking along some seam or other. How it managed to fill with water is beyond me but its not something I check everyday.

The biggest lesson Ive learned over the years is check the simple things first - Ive replced just about every electrical component just to discover that the faults were bad connections, bad earths ....... water on connections etc. I' d check the sensor connections on the tank before you start tearing stuff apart

i would allways be careful when tasting unknown fluids under or near vehicle ,make sure its actually from vehicle before licking finger
