Hi guys ,
So in my attempt to get my 2003 td4 manual back on the road i have lately been busy on a bunch of jobs , yesterday was to change out the ird oil and also inspect it to see if it was still ok .

The drain and filler plugs loosened fairly easily for me , touch wood. I drained the oil and it came out like hot chocolate with no milk , very few shiny particles but there was about an 8th of an inch of metallic sludge sitting on the end of the drain plug.
I am thinking that I might just have managed to save the ird so i am now waiting on a brand new vcu and u-joints to refurbish the propshaft.

I wanted to ask though , after i finished filling the ird with oil I tried to open the fill plug on the gearbox with no success bit i noticed there is a leak of oil where the left drive shaft goes into the gearbox between the fill and drain plugs .
I'm assuming i need to change the seal on the driveshaft before filling the gearbox with oil but i have been searching for a couple of hours now , i have about 25 tabs open and i am still not much wiser and am getting confused by all the different size of seals available for the transmission.
Could anyone plz tell me what the part number is for the correct seal?

UNG100060L is the part number for the rh side and
TRX000010 is for the left on the td4 m47

Does that mean they are both the same size just different part numbers ?

Ah yes, that was for the drivers side so would have been for the ird.
Best to give them an email asking as they are bound to be different sizes

Oil seal Diff unit to driveshaft = TRX100060LP1 = OEM Available at Rimmers...

My LH one wept, even after I changed it. I think the actual drive shaft was slightly worn where that oil seal sat so I eventually replaced the driveshaft too, and that seal again just to make sure. No more oil weep.
