Hi guys; im just starting to get into off roading and have a 08 Freelander 2 HST. My prior knowledge is non existent, so please excuse my ignorance.
Basically, I’m looking to change the tyres and rims first. I’ve seen some Goodrich All terrain tyres but have no idea about sizes needed or what I should get to accompany them. Will i need to raise the suspension? And how much should I expect to pay for a set of tyres and rims. Also, what other modifications should I look at, to protect my HST. As I’ve said, I know nothing about cars, but I’m determined to teach myself, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have to start somewhere right?

Welcome from a fellow yam yam:p
What are you hoping to accomplish by your modifications?
Not yam yam mate lol...brummie! I speak English
Re mods; I want to be able to take it off roading basically, so making it more sturdy and hard wearing. I want to toughen it up and perform whatever mods people suggest, that I deem relevant. As I’ve said, I don’t know a fat lot about cars, so I’m learning! Lol

Any engine mods to improve performance would be appreciated too, which I can either do myself or get someone more knowledgeable to do for me.

Hi and welcome!

I’ve not got a freelander but I think one of the best modifications would be a decent set of tyres. The BFG A/T’s are very good off road and on and last very well too. Decent recovery points front and rear too and you’re good to go as a minimum.

I take mine oft road and use the standard tires it came with. Does ok. All depends how eggstream yer want to go. Lots of talk about tires int Freelander section below.
