I'm thinking my love of my P38 is being sorley tested!
The aircon wants my cheque book.
(never appears when its below 5C, or in the mornings. seems to blow out air where & when you tell it - but temp can often go above set temp)

And for its next trick. . .

EAS fault (sometimes)
compressor works and all goes up & down
today left for a few minutes the offside rear went down, when restarted no problems, had a drive no problems. parked up again - both fronts go down
started up no errors. have now left it all day and its still where i left it none have gone down at all. . .

guess tomorrow shall tell

any thoughts??

when you say EAS Fault, are you getting the fault message appearing on the message centre (if you are then no ride height changes are possible from my understanding - they certainly wernt when i got the EAS fault message appear on the way over to my specialist earlier this week)?? it sounds to me like the vehicle is trying to level itself. I know that if i dont park my vehicle on my driveway (flat and level) at night it will try and level itself on the uneven ground that is my avenue and can often loose height on random corners.

Was thinking of having it hooked up for diagnostics at LR (or anywhere else).
Is there any questions i should ask?

Get them to run it (testbook) in dynamic mode so they can see exactly what is going on with the sensors etc in real-time as it goes up and down.

Oh, and please don't take it to a main dealer, they won't have a clue and will just guess at replacing everything in the system until it works (or not!). Take it to a *good* specialist who really understand the P38 air suspension.

and whilst it is in, get them to hook testbook up to the HEVAC so you can find out what it thinks is wrong with that - I believe that the HEVAC ECU is pretty good at telling you what really is wrong (unlike the EAS ECU!)

Results of the testbook:

HEVAC
(32) Compressor clutch control circuit open or short to ground
(50) Heater core temperature sensor circuit short to ground
ABS
Brake switch failure
Front right wheel sensor open circuit intermittent
EAS
Front left height sensor is out of range
Rear left height sensor is out of range

I have the height sensors and plan to replace myself (how do you calibrate, or is it necessary?). I believe there’s a LR fix for the compressor clutch control, but I am concerned about the intermittent ABS problem as its MOT time tomorrow. I have also been told that the wheel sensor is extortionately expensive. Looks like its only a two wire proximity switch – is there any equivalent??? Or cheaper source?

Wheels sensors pop out of position, and are prone to getting covered in crud. Take them out, clean them up and make sure they are pushed into position properly - that will probably sort it.

Not necessarily the problem, EAS ECU is notorious for giving out error codes at random!

but if you want to replace them the system will need recalibrating. Can only be done using Testbook (Rovacom etc) The garage will have fixed size blocks that they put between the chassis and axels to calibrate the heights are various height settings. You simply cannot do it yourself.

Well, had the height sensors replaced and recalibrated.
has it improved matters - i think not!!

instead of the occasional error, I now get an EAS fault as soon as i turn on the ignition. . .
WTF!!! (sorry)

Have to go back (on Saturday) it have it plugged in. . .
And I'd bet its goin to cost!!!
(I know its a wiring fault, but haven't time to fix myself)
