I'm still chasing a decent Disco 2 (the good ones seem to sell quickly). This has got me thinking as my eyes stray to other cars, what made you buy a Disco 2? And would you buy one again?

I'd always wanted a Land Rover, ever since I was a kid and when I finally retired from gainful employment and my pension kicked in, I could finally afford to run one. I told my local dealer what I wanted, a Disco 2 built between March and May 2004, and that's exactly what he came up with.
And yes, I would buy another one if I had to, they're the only vehicle I can get in and out of these days.

It was cheap because it was broken iv since fixed it and still doing the little things and it looks OK parked next to the p38
This is where I parked my Citroen, So I decided a D2 would be betterer.......Plus I am a glutton for punishment.

We bought ours ten years ago because we needed a car to tow our caravan and horse trailer. We test drove a jeep grand cherokee before test driving the land rover. The choice was easy. We towed our touring caravan down to Spain last year and put it in storage there and we are going to sell the horse trailer, so won't need a car like this again but I would get another if I needed a towcar again.

I bought another.... had an '02 plate Td5, basic spec, 5 seat. A D4 and a divorce later (guess who got the D4....) and a few months on I'm now enjoying a '53 ES Premium, sub 90k on the clock, and loving it. First time round I was a bit naive and surprised at what they took to keep rolling along, but soon realised that some works could be done by yours truly... that and finding a great specialist in Bury St Edmunds. 2nd time around I was a lot more realistic, so when it leaked, I knew what to do etc and wasn't put off. Can't beat it for a sense of comfort and peace when driving on the road... it's effortless to cover the distances, and I find I disconnnect from all the idiots jostling and racing around.. I just roll along in my own bubble of calm! Don't do massive amounts off road (I know that's an offence punishable by exclusion from this forum) but I know I can when I need to. I love having it back in my life. I also guess it's a little bit of a hobby... there is always something that can be adjusted, fixed or improved!

I needed a car, a distress purchase, and it was the only car I could afford that I actually liked. I also wanted a 4WD, was also been there done that with big engined GM Europe saloons.
Too many boring pieces of crap out there, I also walked out of local Vauxhall stealer while they were trying to sell me a boring piece of crap (looking for Omegas or VXR8) I called their cars plastic crap.

L322 too scared of it going wrong
X5 boring and no off road,also not quick!
A snapped cambelt Omega, they never replied to my enquiry, I had the correct engine in a wreck.
A few D2s
Chose this one as it drove well and didn't make me sea sick.
I was previously looking for a SIII as a project car but the big smash changed it.

It does everything I need, tip runs, bikes on the back, camping trips, me the mrs 2 kids and the dog - no sweat. I'd like a remap though.....

It does help if you enjoy doing work on it. As soon as I drive down the road in mine then evetything seems right in the world and as mentioned above you just feel apart from the idiots on the road.
