So I’m 2 months into Range Rover ownership and I’m just wondering what normal behaviour for the GM gearbox is?
The gearbox was rebuilt a few years back i don’t know at what mileage.
No history after that of a gearbox oil change so I did that when I got it and the oil was perfect. Still red and no metallic particles in it.
However for me it just seems very slippy less so when warm.
The slightest touch of the accelerator unless going down hill causes the car to Rev over 2000 rpm sometimes hanging on to 3000 rpm. When it changes gear both up and down it’s very smooth. It seems to get up to speed pretty quick for the weight and power. Also when it feels like it slipping if I ease off the accelerator it will change gear. It’s quite happy maintaining speed at say 45mph at 1300rpm and even going up slight inclines like that but as soon as the throttle is pressed if gently it will change down and slip over 2000rpm
Now I’m not sure if this is because I’m use to a zf6 speed transmission which locks up very quickly and low down in the Rev range.
