Excellent plan.
Have a quick look at the inside of the inlet manifold just where the EGR port is connected. With any luck it will be quite clean as the petrol / air mix will wash it clean, and carry all the filth right into the cylinders ...
You might like to see the mess in Disco diesel manifolds because of EGR. It is absolutely full of GRUESOME black filth like Marmite. It becomes so bad eventually, that it gets to the stage of strangling the engine.
I have had mine blocked off with a plate since I got the car, but a couple of weeks ago I just ripped the whole thing out. Disco TD5 goes a lot sweeter without it, and a lot further on every gallon.
With any luck you will notice an improvement in all running respects.
