And what could of caused it to split?

The story is I took it to Kwik fit (I know, I know:eek:), to have an MOT and service...........The ywere the only ones who could do it as the MOT was up and my wife didn't inform me until Tax time...........

Everything was good untill she mentioned today that since the service there was a 'hissing' noise from the front end somewhere and there was a lot of black smoke on accelleration............

What is that bit of pipe called please? and could the split have been caused by overfilling anything? Also, has it caused any damage??

thanks for the help in anticipation!!

blimey, sorry about the size............can anyone shrink that a bit?

Im crap with computers as well as cars:D

if its the pipe at a 90 degree angle its part of the air intake into the inlet manifold and it probably split with old age,it wont damage anything, but get it replaced asap, and overfilling anything wont have caused it to split, quite common to happen on turbo intercooled diesels

Thanks mate, would that have caused thick smoke out of the rear under accelleration?

Is there a specific name for that 90 degree bit of pipe? it is that one that is gone, round the back, ..........It just seems a bit strange that it went straight away after the MOT and service :)

It's a turbo hose. The black smoke is caused by overfueling due to the split pipe.

Thanks guys, got the bit from the main stealer today for £12......the missus needed it today..... fitted in 5 mins and no hissing or smoke.............!

gave the big bit of plastic that resembles the engine a polish too
