I am going to top my oil up and possibly do a oil change on the landy. Whats the correct oil to use ? Someone told me 10/40 is fine and I have 5 litres already but I thought I best check.

Yep will be fine. However, use 'normal' oil. Steer clear of semi-synthetic oils in that engine.

Does this advice apply to Series 2 as well - ie avoid synthetic oils (presumbaly stick to mineral)?

thanks andy

I'm having trouble finding mineral 5/30 (5/30 or 5/40 is quoted as required in the book). In fact - trouble finding most maintenance parts like pads, belts, filters, rotors, etc. I normally use Halfords or Autosave or similar but they sem to treat Landies (well mine anyway) as special and don't stock.

Could you recommend a supplier pls?

Paul

You should be able to get mineral oil at Halfords with no problem.

If you do a Google search for online Land Rover part retailer I am sure you will find lots. Many will do 'service kits' too.

Recently suggested to me that the old Duckhams was good. Think 30/50. Also helps to keep the smoke down!
