I have recently got hold of a 1994 M plate, 300 tdi, automatic, japanese import. with just over 91,000 on the clock. in almost mint condition. My problem is being a auto, i want to change the transmission fluid. I read somewhere that a power flush would be beneficial.

What is a power flush?. is it something i can do at home, or do i need a garage to do it for me?

it seems a bit slow changing from 3rd to 4th gear. Also i cant find the kick down. This is why i am looking into a power flush and fluid change

I thank anyone who can help me!!

Thankyou for that. It sounds exactly what i was led too believe. It is obviously not a job i can do. So will have to look into it. Many thanx for that, it has helped me greatly. now i know what to do.

Power flushing - A variation of recirculation, where the oil level in the sump is reduced and a high-velocity fluid is applied to mechanically dislodge, lift and entrain particulate debris. Power flushing suspends and transports particles; absorbs air, chemical products and water from the system; and releases the contaminants to a filter.
