Ok so I'm in the process of replacing the engine in the 03 Disco II 4.6V8 that I own in Canada (some money I've aquired means I can get rid of that damn rattly top-end due to the oil pump/block issue).

I'm trying to find out what exact engine I have so thought I'd do some digging for the engine number. From the photos I took (attached) it looks like my engine number is 08D09226A but that doesn't look like a valid number from the charts (http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/content-...Engine-Numbers). I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a 4.6V8 and that the car should be on the original engine at only 95kmiles.

Hi,

I have not found your engine, but, if you follow this link, it suggests that your engine, being an A Suffix has points - so this would lead to it being a 3.5.

Also, 08D is very low on the list, so again makes it more likely to be an earlier lump.

Keep on that google search, something will come up!
 
From the look of the picture I would say you have air pulsar/ egr fitted which is a standard spec on the d2 us spec and late uk ones so yes looks right but you mite have missed a number off with the camera or it is a exchange engine previously fitted?
