Can anyone tell me what this part is and what it does . I have a 90 300 tdi bolted to the inside of the drivers wing there's a plate says on the plate xbl 10003 21r. On that plate is a gold electrical item 2 1/2 inch long by -1 1/4 inch pop rivited to it . it has 2 wired coming from it going to a connector which connects to Brown /brown yellow on loom. On the gold thing it says cgs r1369 iro 5% 9417.

ignition warning lamp bypass resistor allows alternator to charge in case of blown ignition warning lamp mounted behind dash .that is if the correct colour usually brown /yellow and white cables ,dim dip resistor normally brown/green and brown cables usually mounted on drivers inner wing on later model brown/green and brown/white cables .discovery 1 mounted on bulkhead cables brown/purple and brown/orange
