I have a '04 discovery and no manual !! The orange light on the dash with the pic of the car and two arrows , one going up and one going down is coming on , anyone know a quick fix ? I am a mum of 4 and rely on my discovery !!! Anyone help ?

i think its the self leveling suspension - warning light
compressor or sensors issue may be. you could try and remove moisture in the height sensors with some wd40

It sounds like the sls light that is illuminated, this is taken from the work shop manual.
Hope it helps.

An accessory remote handset is available to remotely operate the SLS system to allow easier connection and
disconnection of trailers.
Two SLS system warning lamps are located in the instrument pack. The warning lamp in the bottom left corner of the
instrument pack is the SLS warning lamp. If a fault is detected in the system, the warning lamp will illuminate
continuously in an amber colour. The warning lamp also flashes in an amber colour when the remote handset is being
used. The second warning lamp, located in the top right of the instrument pack is the ORM warning lamp. When ORM
is selected the warning lamp is continuously illuminated in an amber colour. When the SLS is between standard ride
height and ORM or in extended mode, the warning lamp will flash. Standard ride height, measured between the tip of
the axle bump stop rubber and the axle, is 61.5 mm (2.42 in). ORM ride height, measured between the tip of axle
bump stop and the axle, is 100 mm (3.93 in).
A switch is located in the group of six switches on the fascia and is used to select the ORM. The switch is non-latching
and must be depressed for a minimum of 0.5 seconds to signal the ECU that ORM has been requested.

Reading through this it seems that you have a fault and the car will need plugging in to a computer to diagnose what the problems are.

Thanks ever so much for all this information, you guys are very kind. Would this cause the car not to start though ? It is turning over but now not powering up.

diesel , my petrol gage isnt that reliable though ... maybe it needs some diesel also. the red light isnt on though. I think i may have a slow puncture too, would that cause the suspension light to come on ?

There are a few red lights, wich one is it that isnt lighting up?
I would put some diesel in it first if you are unsure if it has any in, let the system bleed out any air that has possibly got into the system. (ignition on for 3 minutes then crank it over untill it hopefully starts).
A puncture wont be the cause of the sls light coming on.
It does sound like the car needs a session on the diagnostics, maybe if you put your location in your profile, there may be some one from this forum close by with the diagnostic kit that would be willing to help.
