I’m sure this has been covered many times before but I’m a new member so thought I would ask anyway. I have recently bought an 87 90 FFR demobbed in 2011 and sold via Withams then. I can’t find the right paint match and it’s driving me nuts :( got it scanned at local paint supplier in Exeter but they couldn’t find it. The nearest seems to b nato green satin but that’s looking too dark. Does anyone know if there is a paint co in Devon who would be able to match it or can anyone advise. I am currently trying to find the landy on Merlin to see if that has a record of the colour. Any help much appreciated Cheers

Your vehicle probably is NATO green satin, its probably just faded in the sun, I've seen Land Rovers and Bedfords in Cyprus nearly white due to UV bleaching. Who knows how many times it was painted in service and using what paint. FFR paint 'goes off' after a few years and can affect colour or a local workshop could have knocked up its own colour, or it might not have been painted for 32 years. Go for NATO satin and paint the whole truck using a 4" foam roller. 2.5 litres should do outside and the cab.

Hi Thanks for taking the time to respond. I think you are probably right just didn’t want to get into painting the whole truck as the rest of it is so good. Have painted the offending back panel nato green semi gloss and it’s nearly a match but just slightly too dark and glossy. I think I will take your advice and try NG satin or even NG mat first before deciding where to go with it. Am also going to put a picture up on here a bit later Regards Matt

That should have read IRR not FFR paint!
Thanks - so it could be irr paint then

Just watch that when you paint a panel it’ll be quite bright and glossy for a few weeks/months but it dulls down. Repainted my whole landy and it was looking very green but it’s settled down now.

Cheers will do. Have painted one panel with nato green semi gloss - the rest of the car seems to be vaguely that colour but as wireman said very faded so it stands out. I’ve ordered nato green satin which Im hoping will be less shiny than the semi gloss and hopefully will fade with time - if not then I’m back to square one trying to establish the colour. Have done a FOI request so might get something back from the history on the colour. Many Thanks for your help.

Mine is very faded, it's definitely NATO green inside but outside is a much paler green! I will be repainting mine soon, not sure about going original matt as it is or satin.....

Matt sucks for holding the dirt. Go for satin nato green - will be bright to start but will fade in a few weeks or so as others have said.

I had the same dilemma wen I did mine, I ended up painting the whole thing

My FFR 110 will be getting an equivalent of a spa day for a person :) a good rub down and facial which equates to a sanding down of the panels, fittings removed and rub down then a covering of NATO satin green in the next few weeks. Looking forward to the work, does anyone have a preferred paint manufacturer for the NATO green satin finish??

Not sure if you can tell in the photos but it's faded nicely

Thanks everyone for the advice - have just done a bit of patching for now maybe give it the spa day too in the summer in nato green satin - yours is looking good o was.
Just had some history back and it looks like it was with 5 and 3 PWRR (V) but that’s all I know so far so I have written to them to see if anyone knows any more - not sure what the (V) means
