I changed the head gaskets (V8 4,0 Thor) and in the process had to smash off the exhaust heat shields. As I didn't want to remortgage rather than get new ones I wrapped the manifolds which has been fine. She runs really nicely and has no codes. Today when doing a few bits I noticed a bit of smoke from the rear of the engine on the drivers side.

Some plastic pipes seemed to have been touching the exhaust manifold/downpipe and melted. I don't know what they are so if anyone can help that would be amazing. The first ones were a set of two which I think I remember being loose at the back when I took her apart. The second one seems is further down along the bulkhead. It appears to have a connector which has melted but I can't find anywhere for it to join too (the pic of this one is taken from underneath the car)

I have put a few pics below.

Thanks for any help.

Agreed breathers for Auto box and transfer box for the first pic.
Is the second pic the axle breather, cant remember the exact route but seem to remeber it goes down the arm from the axle onto the chassis then back up the bulkhead which could be near the downpipes.

Oh and pull that earth strap up out of the way too, I set fire to 1 of them (fun, not :vb-groan2: )

Thanks guys for the input. All safely secured out of the way now :)

@marjon Yes the earth strap is now as far away as possible :) What a nightmare setting fire to one !!
