I'm restoring a steering wheel to replace my old tired one.
The one I have has a plastic lug missing as shown in the image.
When I bought it, I was planning on just swapping the whole black back piece from my old wheel, but I can't for the life of me get it off.

Do I need this plastic lug that I'm missing.
If it's for indicator reset, then yes.
If it's just a location guide then surely I can live with out it.

If I do need it, any idea of the round plastic thing comes off?

Is it for canceling (can't say disabling because dad said otherwise) @pwood999 😝 the indicators?

If anybody has a scrap steering wheel, I'd be grateful if you could try prying the plastic thing off, and tell me whether it popped off, or smashed broke apart.

If its missing can you try making a replacement lug out of a bit of hard plastic plumbing pipe and gluing it on?

Last option is to just make one, but what I'll probably do is cut it off the old wheel. That way I can cut off a big chunk of the plastic surround to increase the contact area for gluing.
