I've been a bit of a TW:doh:T!

whilst topping up the gearbox oil I happened to notice a bolt just off to the right of the filer plug. I stupidly undone it and now I can't select reverse.
Its the bolt-reverse lever.

Any ideas to sort it or is it time to visit Ashcroft as it whines a lot and crunches 2nd

its reverse lever pivot ,youd need to remove gear box top carefully as across middle under top art the detent springs , you screw bolt through case in to lever but you need to hold lever in correct position and acorrect distance from case so that once pivot bolt is fully home lever engages well with reverse idler and cant be pulled out of engagement usually takes a few tries to get right

Easy enough to sort with the turret off (not as it may sound the top off the whole gearbox or anything). I've done this a couple of times and it is easier once you have the top off to see what's going on.

no you havent ,it needs top off ,its impossible to hold rev lever without

Ah, I was forgetting the LT77 there, I was being daft thinking R380 and "the other one"! How could I after all the trouble I had with mine.

There was a situation with a friends LT77 from Ashcrofts where he could not get into reverse because the bias adjustment was a little over zealous.
