this was on fleabay,i know what it owes him and may make an offer but i'm a little confused by it's appearance.it was listed as an mod field ambulance, are the screen and doors standard to mod ambulances? and what's with those weird door handles?.it's in calne wiltshire and seeing as raf lyneham is just up the road i think it would be a fair assumption that it's ex r.a.f.
any thoughts?

Not a standard military ambulance, would make a good camper.
I've seen similar coachwork on a old series fire service vehicle, it was done by W. Mumfords of Plymouth. It had the same doors also.

Looks almost like Austin Gypsy (sorry, I'll go and wash my mouth out now) screen & doors.
It may be ex RAF, but I would think the mods were made once it entered civvy street

some more pics,i love those wooden door tops!

Its not a military field ambulance because it doesn't have a chamfered rear body.
Maybe it was used as an ambulance around the raf base. Looks like a camper to me.
Quite a rare vehicle.

well, i dont think the body is made by land rover, but the bulkhead is completly differnt and there is no rear crossmember infact i want to see this thing im intriged
