hi people, i know ive read it somewhere that you can use a c02 fire exstinguisher plumbed in to the mig, i only use disposable bottles so would my regulator fit or would i need to fit the welder out with a bigger regulator as ive been offered a co2 bottle but if its not going to work(fit) then theres no point in accepting it

cheers guys

with hobby when i did it you pay like 60quid for the bottle and about 30quid for a refill.

you just swap the bottle for a refill and when you are totally done you get the 60-12 fee back.

might have changed now.

i got a fix n weld just down the road their prices are about sixty a cougar i think it is and no real contract the bottle if i remember rightly just pay for a refill

You need a regulator for a pub gas bottle, there's loads on eBay and a thread on here about this very subject the other day.

i know about a pub bottle but i was asking about a fire exstingisher, i thought i read a thread the other day but i couldnt find it i should of searched

It's in the disco section, currently half way down the 4th page. My point was that if you wish to use a fire extinguisher you need to obtain a suitable regulator such as one for a pub gas bottle. Regs for the small disposable bottles will only fit small disposable bottles.

yep ok just read the thread apologies all round any chance of a pic to see how its set up:D

not sure why CO2 would cause brittle welds, AFAIK the gas is to sheild it from oxidising, CO2 is good at this, Argon better, as a result you need less argon to sheild than you do CO2???
Seeing as a big pub bottle costs me around £11 a fill, and everyone else I know uses CO2 for general work, Ill stick with CO2 unless somone can give me a good reason not to
