Hi I've got a disco 2.5 R reg.automatic just failed the MOT with this list of welding needed to be done. If anyone is interested and can give me a quote I would appreciate it. I'm in the Nottingham area.
Here's the list of welding.

1. Nearside front lower (b post corroded)

2. Body or chassis has extensive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30 cm of the body mountings Central rear lower

3.Body or chassis is damaged, affecting its strength within 30 cm's of the body mountings Offside front lower

4. Body or chassis is damaged, affecting its strength within 30 cm if body mountings Central front lower (from b post lower)

5 Body has a projection caused by corrosion Offside rear ( o / s / r corroded)

Thanks for taking the time to read. I'm also on a fairly tight budget and willing to help to keep the cost down. Unfortunately I'm not a welder though, but eager to learn.

Have you assessed the condition of the boot floor and inner wings as these wouldn't show up on the mot but might condemn it further.

Pictures would help but to me that sounds like a badly corroded sill.
as requested some pics of the horrors

surprised he didn't pick up on the perished tyres as well...

Who MOT'd it last year as they are clearly blind... that is quite bad..

Agree completely. Those tyres should have been at least an advisory IMHO.

IME, D1's with side steps rot far worse than the ones without, and I would suspect, OP, that your sills will be rotten too.

Its all completely fixable, but you'll need to do it yourself or it will cost you more than the £1500 quoted - and as Marmaduke said above - you need to assess the boot floor and inner wings (and bulkhead) before you start.

If you are thinking of going down the fix it root be prepared when you take the plastic sill covers off as they hide a multitude. If you're thinking of ebaying it as spares or repair then I'd leave them on. What mileage is it on?

This is just a list of welding that needs to be done, not the whole mot. Possibly not as blind as you may think.

The blindness was a comment to last years MOT....... All of the rot in your pictures hasn't just happened in 12 months and should have been picked up on previously.
As you say. The car didn't belong to me then and when I bought it I was told there was welding to be done. I do appreciate your help.
