I am selling my Landy to make way for a new one and have it advertised on the for sale link, but I was wondering has any body else done it and got lots of "wierd" emails from punters. Ill give you an example. Its advertised with pictures but they ask for pics as if they have never seen it. They also ask for a description even though I have described it as best i can on the advert. They all ask for what the best offer is abd agree to it but state that they will be paying by cheque. I reply saying that is fine but that the landy will not be released untill the funds have cleared and that is the last that i hear from them?

If anybody can shed any light on this it would be helpfull
cheers:eek:

dont sell it to anyone until you have the cash in the hand/bank.
all them emails sound like typical scammers.
if anything doesnt look or sound right, then it probably isnt right either.
beware.

Yep, there's a lot of it about.

If you reply & sound gullible they'll come out with allsorts of stuff about sending THEM the full price of the vehicle so's "my client in UK he give you £1000, no" or ask for money via Western Union. The requesting photo's is so they can post bogus ads flogging your vehicle elsewhere & try it on with a few more innocents.

I have a separate email address with a rather offensive name that I use for sending them fairly obscene stuff back. Sad thing is I've come across quite a few people who've actually fallen for scams like this. I did a bit of unofficial poilcing on ebay a while back (when high end drum equipment & cameras were their hunting ground). It was rife, they were obvious, but still people actually fell for it! I had some way sad tales sent to me.

I too sold my bloved Mini recently through Autotrader & was deluged with that sort of crap. One or two even called. Ask them one to many awkward questions & they soon hang up. Autotrader are aware of it (I spoke to them at length), but there's very little they can do.

Disturbing that the little f*cks are trying it in here too!

Be V careful, it's a dirty old world out there!

Regards,
Marcus.
