hi guys i am new to the series forum but have been on freelander forum as freelander owner.
i am now the owner of a 1972 landy 109.
collection is all that stands in my way. dont suppose any one knows the unloaded weight of a 109 do they? and maybe the weight of a car transporter trailer.
may seem an odd question but just wondering if i can get away with collecting it with the freelander but obviously only has 2000kg max tow weight, so hoping trailer and unloaded 109 fall under the 2000kg, i know this will be very close.

thanks

Your Freelander will pull it home with ease, but it might not be legal. Just go for it, you would be very unlucky to get a tug by the old bill.

Don't be daft!! A 109 weighs between 1600 and 1800kg depending on the roof etc. and a trailer capable of carrying that will weigh in the region of 800kg.
You will be well over the towing capacity that is set for a reason.
Pay a collection company to do the job for you. My mate is having a Jag delivered about 90 miles for £150 on a 7.5t lorry. By the time you hire a trailer and pay for your fuel and time you will be close to that!!

If you look at it like that, then yeah, that's the way to do it.

daft was what i was not intending to be, which is why i asked. i read that the 109 weighed 1450kg somewhere on the net, and believed that there was a possiblity the trailer only weighed half a ton which is why i asked.
thanks for the input though, i will check ebay companies.

Check the landyzone courier service thing too - occasionally people are travelling around with empty car trailers... and depending where you are people may be willing to lend you a trailer (may be cheaper to higher a van to tow the trailer or something)
And... on a similar note if you are midland's based your welcome to the use of my trailer

oh and :welcome2: to the series section :)

Fk me..you got this posted here too?? Go look at your post on the courier section...and try not to confuse folks by posting the same thing 2 or more places!

Too far for me - well, not too far, but once I'd added in my extra fuel to get there and back.....you won't be able to afford me!
