hi i have been having a few noise related problems with my TD5 and i still carnt find the culprit.
when the engine is accelerating gently it is fine but if you are accelerating then flore it a sort of weezing/ hissing sound starts. i have checked all the usuall things but as there is no wire to pull when i am under the bonet i carnt seem to find the problem. it is most noticable when pulling from 50mph - 70 in 4th and the pedel is planted firmly to the flore same in 5 th gear.
any ideas??
a clunking noise from the axels is also getting worse when i take up drive and let it off so the engine slows down, if that makes sense, i am going to repace the uj's on the prop shafts but most of the noise is coming from the axel / diff pan area. i read something about shims in my lr books is this a quick job or a major overhaul? all my landrovers clunked a bit but this one is aufull. it has done allot of heavy towing. any help/ advice would be very greatfully recived.
