Hi everyone :)

Just bought a '99 4.0 HSE.
Gorgeous car but water/coolant is runnig out like Niagara Falls :(
It seem to be coming from behind/near the driver's side exaust manifold.
Going to take that off tomorrow to have a better look...Hopefully core plug :scratching_chin:

Anyone had this happening to their RR?

Rudy

you'd be surprised how much water the airconditioning drains. sure its not that? and core plugs can start to seep but its usually quite gentle (look for telltale coolant stains). if its pouring out of there, ie if a plug is missing, you'd be totally out of coolant in about 15 seconds.

No, it's def. not the A/C.
I can pour water in the exp. tank (with the engine running) and see it pouring/running out almost immediately. When I do this on a hot engine, it is accompanied by clouds of steam as well.

Had a closer look today.
Removed inner wing cover, outer heat shield and as far as I can see the water is pouring out from behind the engine mount......
Maybe the block is cracked there
Not sure if this is a common issue, but I don't think I've read about it before

Frost damage due to lack of antifreeze?

cracked blocks are usually internal behind a liner,if it is a core plug you should be able to see it from under the car if its spewing that much water out you should see which one very easily, you shure its not the metal heater pipes or the connections to them, there just above the engine mounts on drivers side.

It's not the pipes or the core plugs.
I guess I need to take the engine mount off to see what's going on :(

There is a core plug directly behind the engine mount. You can take the engine mount off but all that will do is give you a better view. The fun will start if the plug needs replacing as there isn't enough room to get the old out never mind chapping the new one in.

That's really good news..lol :(

What are the options? Lifting/dropping the engine far enough to get to it?

Well...managed to get the exhaust manifold off - undid the engine mounts - jacked engine up

From what I can see there is a large hole right beneath the temp sender. it's pouring out there....

What needs to be attached to there
