HI,
I need to replace my camshaft (Range EFI 3,9) and i ask if i should change my genuine waterpump ( 130 000 miles, no leaks ) or replace it with a aftermarket one (genuine are too expensive ) ?
Thanks.

At that mileage I would certainly be contemplating it but not with a cheap one. I don't know the original manufacturer though.

It's gotta come out anyway. Inspect it, especially underneath that cannot be seen in the car.

1) any wobble or roughness in the bearing. If so it will kill the seal soon !!
2) any signs of leakage through the drain hole at the bottom indicate seal failing.
3) broken vanes on the impellor - low efficiency

Replacements start around £50 so unless it's in excellent condition, a shame to do all the other work & not that

Change it if you wish but keep the old one as a spare.

Be aware that most of the bolts don't need excessive tightening & if you overtighten the really long ones you run a risk of either stripping the thread or shearing the bolt.
Those long ones have an unfortunate tendency to shear when being removed because they go into the water jacket & can seize.
