Hello,

Iv got an 00 Reg XDI freebie and i have the same problem as most of the freelanders, The misting up of the interior windows etc..

So this is caused by damp yes ? i heard about the water ingress in the boot, so i thought this must be the main cause for this damp so i opened up the rear cubby hole and behold it was filled like a swimming pool.

So drilled a couple of holes and drained out the water.

Im hoping with these new holes its not going to fill up again. :p

so where does this water come in from ???

The boot carpet doesnt really feel wet, so it doesnt seem like its leaking from the window seal, but where else would it be getting in ?

Im hoping now that i have drained the "well" this condensation problem will stop for good !

it must help a bit anyway, getting rid of all that moisture.

what do you thinks going on ???

Cheers peoples
:D

Sounds to be the only way in.

Some people say that they have put some silicon around the seal which sorts the problem.

Do you think it will sort it out ? Have the replacement seals been re-designed so not to leak ?

if not then its not worth getting a new one as they aint cheap !

check behind the plastic strip above the window. I've siliconed mine even though it wasn't leaking.

use at least a full can of silicone spray on all your door seals.
i think alot of the cause of the well filling up could be the next coldest part of the vehicle.

might be also worth taking the rear door rubber seal off all the way round then putting it back. it doesn't go back exactly the same, no matter how hard you try, and that seems to sometimes effect a better seal.

good luck

Thanks for your help.

i will get the seal sprayed with silicon spray and maybe even silicon inside the seal ?

Thankyou !

no. not gooey sticky silicone, silicone spray is a lubricant it enriches rubber breathes new life to it

ask in any auto factor, you will get some change out of a fiver.
