It's automatic when the headlamps are switched on and the windscreen washers are used.....or should be if your lucky

The things are pretty pointless anyway ( imo). I drove the entire west coast route from France to Spain, in daylight and night. It was bug soup, some of them must wear Kevlar because they hit the screen with a bang and spread glup. I was using the wash/ wipe a lot and kept the screen clear. When I parked up I looked at the headlamps they were thick with impacted bugs etc. The wash facility had made no difference at all to the headlights apart from giving them a warm bath. I had a Beemer years ago and that had cute little wipers that worked with the headlamp wash... must have been better. Why didnt LR think of that?

If they haven't been used for some time they may not now, the pump, pipe or jets could be blocked. It's "use it or loose it"
