Hello all. I have an engine warning light coming on. My OBD scanner is showing a message saying 'exhaust gas' with a code number P245A. Also the MPG has reduced to around 23. Does anyone have any idea what this is & how to fix it? Regards. David.

I would think it is egr or related parts issue by the sounds of it.
Don't have a F2 so can't advise any further. Google may have some suggestions for you.

What's the light that has come on?
What year is it?

The main engine light has come on.
Car year is 2011.
Ok, it could well have an EGR valve that has a vacuum shut off flap, which activates when the DPF is doing a regen.
The problem with a basic code reader, is it doesn't give the complete LR code, just the standard 5 character code. LR codes contain an additional 2 character identifier after the main code, which can pinpoint the exact issue. Your code could be related to an electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic issue.
Your best bet is to check everything on the EGR valve, so the electrical connection, the pneumatic pipe and the flap control lever is able to move, and returns to it's normal position after it has been moved. There is a return spring on the control flap, which has been known to fail, resulting in the flap not closing correctly.

Hi again Nodge. I have checked my code reader again & noticed that the P245A number has 2 errors, each one with a small number after it. So I have P245A$07e8 & P245A$07e8pd. Wondering if this is what you were referring to in your last message. Hopefully this may help.
