Is there a WANTED ITEMS forum here? I can't find one.

I need a working STARTER MOTOR for a 2.5 NA diesel LandRover engine.

Would swap a whole 2.25 petrol engine for a decent starter to suit the NA diesel.

Have to confess Im not sure, I was given it, when my old starter went bang, guess it must have been a diesel one to cope with the 2.5, though it is a bit sluggish...

Must have been a diesel.
Petrol starters are held on with 2 bolts/studs, diesels with 3, so they are not interchangeable. I don't think they'd mesh with the flywheel anyway.
 
wont a tdi 200 disco starter do it i remember reading they fit and spin the engine faster as they are a high torque item
 
nay lad i don't unfortunatly if i had one it would be fitted to me s3 for easier starting, if i come across one i will let you know
