A belt drive transmission in a Jeep??? LOL! Ya right....
They did cheap out and go chain drive on the newer transfer cases
though. No way to tighten them... Same for the old quadratrac full
time 4x4, it has a chain too.
You can with good conscience slap that person up side the head and
charge them with fraud if a shop.

Basically all Tcases are chain drive today a least on the front axle
and a few for both axles.

No, not the transfer case - the auto gearbox. He said that the pan could
be dropped and the bands tightened.

The tranny it question does indeed have a clutch band adjust in it.

I won't argue that, but a 'band' is a strap of metal or a band of metal
around a drum that acts like a clutch.
No 'belts' involved.
