How do you fit waffle boards to your roof rack? Just wanted to see how everyone else is doing it to get some ideas before I fit mine.
Not interested in where else to fit them as I am tight on space and would also like them as a base on the roof rack. They need to be fairly easy to remove as and when required but also not too easy to steal. They must also be fairly solid as I don't want them moving about.

i have the mantec sand ladders same as these

and i secured mine using the disc off a stihl saw that clamps the blade and they fit perfectly into the holes, with regards to security you can get bolts with special heads

i've got a first forward aluminium roof rack and it has slots in to put a bolt head in, leaving the thread sticking up.. big washer on the top and a wing nut. rattled like a fender so i got some of them plastic things ya fit bed headboards on with... and used then to cushion the waffle boards.. still rattle but not as much..

i'm tryin to think of another way to do it..

the rattling comes from the cross rails that the boards aint fastened down to, they vibrate against the boards, and other than fastening to every cross bar they touch, its gonna be finding something to dampen the vibration..

Thanks sounds like a plan, mine's the LR roof rack so I think something similar with the addition of some foam pipe insulation on the bars it's not fixed to should do the job.

I am looking to do the same and was planning to use ratchet straps to hold down and a bike lock with chain for security.

The problem nick highlighted I hadn't thought of before but I suppose you could use a roll of thin foam camping mat which would do the job nicely.

Gonna do the same for the farm jack anorl.
