Hi all sorry to pester again... i have a wading kit ready to fit but a friend of mine has just bought a 200 tdi disco with one already fitted. he has 4 valves riveted into his snorkel that the breathers push onto. they were on the car when he bought it and doesn't know were they came from or how much. so if any one knows what they are called or were to get them from can you let me know. ta.
 
waste of money buy some 6mm Pushfit tubing and 3 no. 6mm equal tee's in pushfit. Just run gearbox and transfer box into 1 x Tee connector. Do same for both axles You now have 2 Tee's with a spare connection stick a short piece of breather into each tee and then connect to a 3rd Tee. Which will then have a single spare connection. Run a length of breather from this Tee up side of snorkel and under snorkel top. Job's done and for a fraction of the cost
 
thanks for that but not what i was looking for. i will get some pics of his and post them. i have the wading kit already but want some clips that you rivet to your snorkel and then connect the extended breather pipes to.so in affect you are making your snorkel an extension of your breather pipes.

I suspect they are Male threaded pipe connectors fitted to holes driiled in the snorkel and then a nut fitted inside the snorkel..
 
Why? What's up with bringing them to top of the front bulkhead in the engine bay? If you are wading deeper than that then you are in trouble! It's where mine are and I wade deep.
 
i used the t piece method but ran to pipes up the side of my snorkal to aid breathing> not a good idea to terminate the brethers in the snorkal its self because in theory i can suck the oil from the various components and put it in to the air intake of the engine.
I remember reading somewhere about a guy who ran his breathers up the side of the snorkal and terminated them under the mushroom top, He ended up with an oilly air filter and not enough oil in either the axles or the boxes cause it was sucking it up through the breather tubes
 
Finally got a pic. Any ideas what they are called or were to get them from???

Sounds like an urban myth to me......axles and boxes would have to be so overfull to push oil all the way up to the top of the snorkel that an oily filter would be the least of your problems :eek:

The breathers are there to suck air IN when you hit cold water to compensate for rapid contraction of hot air inside the casings
