New to the forum, 1st post, hope somebody might be able to help.
Sport TDV8, Oct '07.
On 3 or 4 occasions, the volume control has stopped working, both on the head unit and the s/wheel; no sound at all, including nav 'voice' and no volume bars on the unit. 1st time it went to LR dealer, came back ok, they said software problem. On subsequent occasions it's cured itself after a few days.
So you're saying it's under warranty, what's the problem?
The problem is that it's in the LR dealer again with the same problem (altho' it fixed itself en route to them) and now they're saying it could be something to do with the after-market immobiliser and if so, not covered by the warranty. The immobiliser merely isolates the power from the ignition switch and is de-activated by holding a small plastic 'acorn' against the 'A' pillar.
I'd be amazed if the immobiliser is anything to do with the vol problem as most of the time everything works ok.
Ring any bells with anybody?

Are you able to remove the immobiliser to isolate this cause?

Suprised too you need an after-market immobiliser, doesn't the Sport have one as standard?

In any case, doesn't no sound allow you to enjoy the sound of the TDV8 in all its glory? What sort of mpg do you get from it btw?

Thanks for the response. The dealer has accepted that it's nothing to do with the immobiliser, although they have, as you suggested, disconnected it to aid fault finding.
Reason for fitting it was to stop somebody getting hold of the keys (eg burglary) and being able to nick it; we always keep the keys and the immobiliser fob separate.
MPG is 20ish, but it's an awful lot of town driving.
I'll keep you posted on what the fault turns out to be ... if they find it !!

Well, that was quick; they say it's fixed ... seems the Bluetooth unit was emitting a signal that interfered with the volume.
