Hi guys, I am running a stage 2 TD5inside setup with intercooler and EGR delete. Generally happy with it although I fancy getting more low end torque. The current setup behaves more like a petrol engine in my mind requiring revving to high RPM. I am accustomed to modern diesels whereby the torque is available instantly low down making for more relaxing and controllable drive. What is the experience with VNT turbos? Will it likely provide this characteristic? Whats the difference between VNT and VGT? Any advice on the tuner? td5inside/stormtuning/Alive etc?

VNTs are great. Mines at full boost (2.5bar) around 1700rpm

So plenty of power on the lower end as well however mines all done by Empire Tuning. I wouldnt recommend anyone else.

Hi, is it a manual or auto ? If it's auto the torque converter can be a limiting factor for more torque.

Its a manual. Don't get me wrong, its ok with the stage 2 and most would be very pleased with it. But for me I just not so interested at peak power. Torque at 1500rpm is much more important.
Simple question, have you fitted a wider bore, sports exhaust as often that is all you need to do to get more bottom end torque.

The TD5inside stage 2 was done by the previous owner and seems fine for what it is. However, I'm a bit uncomfortable with their "remote" style of working and would prefer someone based in the UK who could be physically got hold of should there be an issue. WHat are people's experience with Stormtuning? They have an agent not too far from me.

It has a 2.5inch Demmand straight through system. I'm not sure if that translates as big bore or not.
I note that their website, not the best by any manner of means, goes on more about the sound from a 2.5 system, and says you need 3" "best for performance".
I replaced the centre box on my standard system with a straight through pipe. No difference at all.
My Disco 1 which was as terrible on pick from a standing start as they all are, with a single rear box stainless wider bore system bought from LR or rather from an indy LR garage. It wasn't too expensive and made all the differnece to low down torque, not too noisy and if anything slightly better fuel consumption. (Talking a manual here.)

That said, if it is properly designed a wider bore system should be better provided it isn't too wide which then takes the perfomance backwards.
