Hi,

Good to know about this forum

I a newbie here, I am living right now here in Kingdom of Bahrain

I have a 2005 LR Freelander 2.5L Gas V6 Automatic Engine

the problem of the car right now is the vibration when on Neutral or Idle when traffic.

the problem started a month ago, I already went to local LR garage, they change new spark plug, clean the fuel injector, breather and the valve and the problem wont stop, it cannot be detected by the computer I don't have problem when the car is running the shifting of gears are good and the pickup of the engine is good as well the only thing that is annoying me is the vibration when the car is idle.

some mechanic said need to have the car overhaul, however it seems like no problem with the engine and no oil leak.

it is very costly as well to maintain this type of car here.

I hope someone can help me with my issue of the car

Has anyone checked the engine and gearbox mountings ?

It is possible these need replacing...

Thank you for quick reply, the engine mounting is okay and I have a new gearbox after 85,000km :( run so everything is fine on that matter

Does the vibration change when you dip the clutch ? never mind have read it 'AUTO'

Does the vibration change with speed ?

have the wheel bearings and steering geometry been checked ?

As you say it does not seem an engine issue, more a drive train or suspension issue...

need to narrow down the area of concern...

any other 'characteristics' of the problem ?

On that part I will asked the mechanic on tuesday I set up an appointment with them.

On the engine Im not so sure if the problem is not coming there.
that's why I said that earlier I don't see or feel any problem when the engine is running or engage.

one more thing, I recall the problem started when they cancel the 4wheel drive or the AWD, because before on that time it is much cheaper to cancel it that to replace it, because here in bahrain 4 wheel is no use no hill or terrain here and most are city driving. do you think its related thou?

Maybe, did they 'cancel' the AWD because it was cheaper and was it still under warranty ? or just so it would cost YOU less money ?

its no longer under warranty and yes it is much cheaper for me to cancel it.

but the mechanic guaranteed me that it is not the cause of vibration.

really frustrating, the shaking of engine when idle I can say it slow to moderate but it is almost a month now and the shaking is consistent and not getting in to worse

the shaking is lessen when the AC is on.

I talked to my mechanic either machine overhaul or change engine, when you open the engine oil cap cover smokes coming out too bad :(

I really love to drive this car however it cost so much now to maintain it.
