hi RR buds

After posting this plea for help on the anything goes page and getting the most amount of abuse I'll try this section and hope for a better result.

I have a L322 4.4 v8 on a 53 plate. When I get to 70mph I get a vibrating noise coming from what sounds like the bottom centre of my windscreen or under my dash around the centre speaker area. I can't pin point it. Has any one had an issue like this or have any idea as to what could be causing the issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Craig

Might be wind screen trim ,loose. is more on the older p38 around 70ish.........,Drive at 65 cured.:D

Thanks for that ovalandrover

please excuse my lack of mechanical knowledge but what are the UJ's?

Craig
Universal joints on the prop shafts. Does the l322 have harmonic dampers on the diffs? If so check you haven't lost one. Check on Rave for what they are and if they're fitted.

There was someone on a few months ago with similar problems and it was, I think, the torque converter had failed. Common issue on the l322 apparently.

Just for the sake of clarity, is it a "noise" coming from the dash speaker /windscreen area OR as the answers are pertaining to so far, an actual physical vibration from underneath that area, through the structure of the veh, that you can actually feel as you drive.
As @Wazzajnr there have been a few of us with TC and injector issues but they could never be described as a noise coming the windscreen or dash speaker area. Mine was like driving a vehicle with square wheels. Some describe it like driving over a cattle grid.
Also that was far from ' the most amount of abuse' , you received in Anything Goes. You actually got off quite lightly :D

It's a noise, as the vehicle drive is very smooth. It sounds like a something vibrating in the wind. It's not the windscreen wipers/arms as when driving with them working I still get the same annoying noise. Like if you held a piece of paper in the wind and you get that ripple noise.

I did gather I got away lightly. Expected more.

That makes things a bit clearer and might help people come up with more relevant ideas. My own thought is have you checked the seal around the windscreen. I recently had a 'wind' noise from mine , which manifested from approx 60mph. Stealers wanted silly money to fix it, a little silicone to seal approx 1cm of lift and all was sorted. Other thought is have you checked the little round poppie-in things on plastic area below windscreen .......... can't for the life of me remember what they or it is called. I'm having a 'grey' moment ;)

I would suggest loose change fallen into the air vents cos thats what I have. Never managed to get it out yet so turn the radio up
