Hi, my series 3 diesel which does a very low mileage smokes dreadfully when started and continues until the engine is really hot, (not often). I've had the injectors and pump serviced but no change. It is white smoke. Any ideas?

Is it really bad or old diesel:

Water ingress in filters?
Engine timing
cylinder compression out?
Head casket leak?
Glow plugs?
Fuel Pressure?

you could try advancing / retarding the injection pump but it can be difficult on a 2.25 diesel with all the injector pipes connected, as white smoke means its retarded so will need to be advanced just do it very slightly as too much will cause it to throw out too much black smoke hope this helps :)

god all mighty its happening to someone else other than me

just watch this video of someone tweaking the fuel pump by turning it clockwise just a little at a time to advance it

land rover 2.25 diesel fuel pump adjusting - YouTube

by advancing the pump this way you give it a little more time on the stroke of the cylinder to burn off the exess fuel its putting in thus reducing the white smoke
