Anybody have problem when replacing your vent seals? I tried every which way. The seal is too thick, and the bottom of the vent does not come close to closing even when using a impressive amount of force to try and force close it.

Anybody know if the vent seal is supposed to have a groove in it for the lip of the vent to rest in?

It's the right seal for the cowl vent from 1958 - 1971 for the Series 2 and 2a, 2.25 diesel

Take the hinge pins out and make sure that the cowl vents move freely and the grooves are clean.

It'll give you some idea if they are the right profile !!

Thanks for the reply,
I think the wrong specs got sent to the factory in wherever the last production run was. Anyways, I order another set this time from ebay. In the picture you can barley see the seals have a recessed groove in them. Should arrive in a couple of weeks, and I will update. Searching the internet I found others have had same problem.

SERIES 2 AND 2A LAND ROVER VENT SEALS (TWO) | eBay

Removed the old seals already, and cleaned out the channel. Vent moves fine. I can't see its "normal" to put +50lbs of pressure on the vents for 4 months to seat the new seals. (advice from others on around the internet) Even then the top part would be super tight, and the bottom just barley closing. IMO

I think the seal got reproduced, and sold to many shops as part #330621 with the wrong specs. Hoping the ebay ones are different, If they are I will post some pictures of the difference if others inquire/search.
