Question do all 2.5NA engines have or should have valve caps? Just put new valves in 86 ex MOD and none were present but it did mention in the manual. Also read some other posts which mention valve caps. Obviously the engine still works without them but I imagine it gives more surface for the rocker to push on the valve so maybe less wear. Would it prove any worth getting and fitting some as I have new valves?

I believe you can fit them if you didn't have them. I've bought some for mine as there were none fitted.

Maybe, I was thinking they could be for the 19J to cope with the extra power??
I fitted some anyway and all working OK.
Would be interesting to find out the real reason for them though.

They increase the width of the contact point on the rocker which should reduce wear on the rocker face.
