Hi everyone

I picked up my first Landy recently. It is a 94 defender 110, 300tdi. Hoping to make my drive a bit more comfortable for exploring the UK this summer.

Im about to install a cruise control unit. I need to tie into a vacuum line. I’m new to diesel engines and just found out the engine doesn’t produce vacuum like a standard petrol does, so I have been learning a lot about how these operate. However im struggling to find a vacuum line that I can branch off of and im looking for suggestions.

I don’t have egr. So my question is what is best to use for vacuum? I prefer to not T off the break vacuum line. Is the turbo vacuum line sufficient? Will installing directly off back of manifold work? Should it branch off the vacuum pump?

Thoughts?

Should have bought a Discovery.
Coming off the brake would likely upset both systems.
No vacuum in the manifold, it has a turbo so under pressure.
Messing with turbo line may upset fueling.

Iirc 200tdi and poss 300tdi discovery had a t piece in the main brake vac hose? the vac was used for one of the in dash heater flaps I think?
Basically that is your only source of vac power.

Could you tapmoff the vacuum line for the brake servo?
That’s where people tap off to run servo assisted clutch.
