Hi all Ive got a chance to buy a 3.9 v8 Range Rover engine and box is good but body is rotten I'm thinking of putting the engine in my defender would the transfer box be OK to swap as well or would I best best off using the original one of my 300tdi or is the Range Rover a better ratio

Depends on what you call a better ratio, they will both have a sticker on to confirm their different ratios

RR is 1.2, Def is 1.4 the actual TX box is the same bar the ratios

3.9 range rover uses a borgwarner t/box ratio is 1.222 same as disco, it has a viscous coupling instead of diff lock, you need the rhs mount and chassis bracket and linkage rod which will fit your hi/lo lever, front prop from rr also if yours is std 300tdi
