Any one tell me please if the sump on a V8 Defender is the same as a V8 Disco and a V8 RR.
Reason is I need a shallow one for ground clearance on my project and was thinking I could maybe swap one off a Land Rover as I have been told that they are shallow.

thanks :)

There are steel and alloy sumps, the Disco II alloy sump is quite deep at the oil pump pickup area to give better oil retention when driving at extreme angles.

They will vary on things like oil pickup point as well.

Thanks,
the engine in question is from a TVR so I will have to go and measure it, in theory it should be allready a shallow one.
Time will tell.

all the saumps are the same and the oil pick up which did not change on the v8 till 1994 with a new strainer for the d1/classic and a new pick up and sump for the p38a
as for the tvr they used the stock old type sump and strainer
