Hi. I've just acquired a series 2a with V8 which has been stood in a barn for years. It was running when parked up and I think it's been started once since. What's the best way of getting it up and running? I thought I'd remove the spark plugs and either turn the engine over by battery or give it a gentle tow around the farm tracks before trying to fire it up. Maybe spray oil in the cylinders before turning the motor over? What do all you experts out there suggest? Thanks, Richard

take the plugs out and get a socket on the end of the crank and try and turn it both ways if its seized pour a mixture of oil and diesel or heating oil down the bores and leavit for at least a week and try turning it again by hand gently gently though

would a good spray of penetrating fluid not be more suitable for a primary treatment, followed by engine oil once/if it gets moving?

if it does turn then remove fuel supply and king lead and crank it over on the starter to let the oil circulate before trying to start it.

put some nice new petrol in the tank too
