well the exhaust is on and sounds very nice . straight through :D:D:D

just having a hard time getting it to start from hot, really doesnt want to . starts first go from cold every time and runs like a champ both hot and cold but just will not start from hot- took about 10 mins after fitting the exhaust

BTW fo those who dont know its a 72 rrc with a 3.5 v8, twin SU carbs , magnecore leads, gen cap and rotor , lumention all brand new :D

Oh heres vid you might like:

The car alarm gives you an idea of how loud it acually was :D:D

here is mine with just the tubular manifolds on lol

how hot are your carbs? sounds like fuel vapourisation

really ok, well its all standard stuff , well before it was and it still did it, now I guess the headers could make it worse?

not unless you bumped somthing when fitting them

fett would have but as i have fitted them and this is the first i have heard of poor starting but dont forget fett it still need to have the carb emissions set up i have balanced and set the carbs to a base setting and set the igintion timing and fitted the lumition kit too.

it could be a the small fuel leak fom the pump one.
you have not said if the fault was there with the old carbs fitted?

nah not there with old carbs, they ran good- just made your eyes water lol.

shame we fitted lumention on the same day, hard to ruel each out now

have booked it in for tues with the garage for emissions/set up. and I am gonna fix the fuel leak this weekend as soon as new pipes etc arrive.

I wondered if we have too much air going to the carbs as it has a fast idle but also may affect its draw down on starting.

on the other hand its ok to run with no choke almost immediatly after starting from cold but doesnt smell rich ever.

I just dont get it

Nice work Fett, sounds great.....LMAO when I heard the car alarm in the background!
Regard the hot starting trouble....is it running a little lean (well, lean for a V8) ???...just an idea?

cheers, Joe

maybe ,but if so it sure uses a hell of alot of petrol

thing is if it was lean it wouldnt run without any choke from cold would it?

In theory I guess not...but these V8's have a habit of throwing the conventional practise/ rule book out the window:(

ran one on carbs for three years, like a bit of choke on a morning specially cold weather

maybe but then if I let the facet run for a while first it should take care of that easy but no luck
